How does receipt extraction work?

PaperTrail uses Apple's Vision framework to scan your receipts directly on your iPhone. When you choose or scan a receipt and tap "Extract Receipt Items", Vision OCR extracts text, totals, dates, and individual item prices.

Where is my receipt data stored?

All your receipt images, line items, warranties, and attachments are saved locally on your iOS device using SwiftData and encrypted file storage.

How do I group or merge receipts?

In the main Receipts tab, tap Select to select multiple receipts and tap Merge Receipts. You can also select individual items in the All Items tab and tap Merge into Receipt.

How do I zoom into my receipt image?

Simply pinch out on any receipt image preview inside the app to enlarge it smoothly. Double-tapping the image will also toggle 2.5x magnification.

How do I back up or export my data?

Go to the Settings tab → Data → tap Prepare Export to export your complete purchase history and receipts as a JSON file.

How do I delete my data or account?

You can delete individual receipts by swiping left, or delete all data permanently in Settings → Delete All Data. You can also delete your account under Settings → Delete Account.
